Megan Flynn advocates for victims of workplace discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and for consistent and fair application of the civil rights laws including the Iowa Civil Rights Act, federal Title VII, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. In addition to practicing as a civil rights attorney, Megan maintains a general practice that includes trial experience in the areas of personal injury, products liability, breach of contract, shareholder disputes, insurance litigation, and professional liability.

Prior to joining this Des Moines law firm, Megan practiced with a large, Midwest-based law firm. Megan brings years of complex commercial litigation experience to the firm’s clients and has the background to see cases from both sides.

Megan grew up in a small, college town in northern New York, close to the border of Canada (Québec). Megan was drawn to the Midwest to study music at the world-renowned Indiana University-Bloomington Jacobs School of Music, earning her Bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance. Megan next moved to Iowa to study law at the University of Iowa College of Law where she graduated in the top ten percent of her law school class.

After that, Megan practiced law in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the weather and landscape reminded her of her hometown, but she was soon persuaded to move back to Iowa to marry her husband, who is from Des Moines. Since then, she has never looked back.

Megan and her husband live in Des Moines with their two boys, and can be seen at local ball parks, soccer fields, tennis courts, and wrestling mats. In her spare time, Megan enjoys reading, writing, cooking for her boys (her other full-time job), and music in all forms.
