Rachel Scherle is an attorney with Coppola Hockenberg, P.C. Rachel is a trial attorney, practicing primarily in criminal law, personal injury, medical malpractice, immigration, family, and employment law. She also consults clients in civil and criminal matters at the pre-litigation stage, advising them on strategies to avoid litigation when it aligns with their interests. Throughout her career, Rachel has litigated complex state and federal criminal and civil matters including mail and wire fraud, tax evasion, violent crimes, False Claims Act, Administrative Procedures Act, and civil rights matters.

She began her career as a Maricopa Deputy County Attorney in Phoenix, Arizona. Rachel then served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa, in Des Moines, as a criminal prosecutor and civil litigator for nearly 20 years. She served as Senior Litigation Counsel and most recently was the Civil Division Chief for the District from 2022- 2025. Rachel is licensed in Iowa and Arizona.

Rachel has tried bench and jury trials in Iowa, Arizona, and in federal court. Rachel has initiated and defended numerous appeals before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Rachel graduated from Iowa State University in 2000 with a B.A. in Political Science and Journalism and Mass Communications and earned her J.D. in 2003 at the University of Iowa.

Rachel lives with her family in Urbandale, Iowa, and enjoys watching her children play soccer and volleyball, reading books, traveling, and cheering for both the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones.
